MY PITCH

Comedy plays a pivotal role in advertising. Attention spans are fleeting, and humour has the ability to break through the noise and leave a lasting impression, making a message more relatable and memorable.

Kantar’s AdReaction study showed that humour is the most powerful creative enhancer of receptivity.

Humour can make complex or mundane subjects more approachable, cut through the noise and leave a lasting impression in the minds of consumers. It’s strange then that so few brands and agencies take full advantage of this by hiring professional Comedians/Comedy Writers who have to live and die by their ability to connect with audiences every day.

I aim to help brands and agencies bridge this gap, putting my years of experience writing comedy for television and live performance into a new medium where I believe it could make an enormous difference. If you need to make something as funny as possible, what do you have to lose by getting input from someone with years of experience doing exactly that?

MORE ABOUT ME

As a TV writer, I've worked on some of Australia's longest-running prime-time comedy programs, including Channel 10's 'The Project' and ABC's 'The Weekly'. In my journey with advertising so far, I wrote for Hardhat's hugely successful 'Dead Easy' campaign for Willed. That received this praise on the Gruen Transfer.

Last year I released my first stand-up special 'Rat Paradise' Which was featured in New York Magazine. You can check it out on my youtube page, as well as my weekly comedy sketches.

If you're interested in working with me, don't hesitate to get in touch at Jack@Jackdruce.com or contact me on LinkedIn.

Specifically what I can do for you

1 Script Punch-Up.

You've done all the heavy lifting, developing a concept and getting the client on board. This is a great chance to get maximum value from the campaign by bringing me on at this stage to inject the premise with as many lines and comedy angles as possible.

2 Adding value to a pitch.

If it's all hands on deck to win some valuable work, I can add a unique comedic perspective on ways to take a concept, and when it comes to winning a client's trust on a light-hearted brief, telling them you've brought on a professional comedy writer doesn't hurt.

3 On Set adlibs

I know during some shoots, especially with comedian talent, it's common to experiment with some adlibs, to bring an authentic spark to the scene.

This is how I make my sketches, and I have a lot of experience coming up with gags in the moment from stand-up and writing jokes on the Project when news broke at the last minute.

Prices

My standard writing rate is $800/Day. As this business develops I’d like to have a more specific price breakdown for different services so happy to discuss different price structures that suit your needs.
